PictureWebster Lake sunset before the Independence Day fireworks on June 30th, 2018. The last rays of sunlight illuminate the sky as the boats anchor for the July 4th fireworks show. From this vantage point Memorial Beach starts in the rightmost part of this landscape photograph. The sunset and the lake were magnificent that summer evening. Webster Lake is known by a few other names including Lake Chaubunagungamaug and Lake ChargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungPicture
I was very fortunate to spend an evening at Webster Lake during the Independence Day fireworks a few weeks ago.  Before the 4th of July fireworks show happened, I had the pleasure of catching a nice and relaxing sunset over the lake.  The boats were lining up and getting positioned for the fireworks display; luckily, I was able to capture a couple of nice shots.  Webster Lake in Webster, Massachusetts, New England.  Lake Chaubunagungamaug and Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagung

Leaving the Comfort Zone

Sometimes you just have to leave your comfort zone a little bit.  Maybe it's to do something new or create a photograph with an unusual idea behind it.  This photograph embodies all those thoughts.  I wanted something gritty, focused around pure numbers... but something that could also have alternate meanings or innuendos.  As always, you the viewer decides :)
PictureA black and white, gritty photograph of a 69 painted on the pavement in a parking space. Abstract, number, and urban photography with symbolic roots.

Cape Cod & Maine

Cape Cod, Massachusetts and Maine have always been two of my favorite spots in New England.  I practically grew up on The Cape, spending summers and off season weekends down there a lot when I was growing up.  Arriving on Cape Cod always makes me feel like I am coming home... maybe it was my home in a past life.  I also love the York, Wells, Ogunquit, Kennebunk, and Kennebunkport areas in Maine.  Here are a few of my most recent photographs and prints from Cape Cod and Maine:
Sunny, vivid seascape photograph of a quiet, little beach in Chatham, Massachusetts, MA Cape Cod. This beach is located near Allen Point, between Chatham Harbor and Pleasant Bay. The Atlantic Ocean and the Chatham Lighthouse are not far from this scenic beach.
A peaceful July sunset over scenic Lewis Bay in West Yarmouth, Massachusetts, MA, 02673. Quintessential, summertime photograph of Cape Cod during the peak of the summer season. The boats are all moored in the harbor as the sun dips well below the horizon. Hyannis Port is also part of the silhouetted horizon. Cape Cod Prints and Wall Decor.
A July, landscape photograph of the Margo Gelb beach cabin in Provincetown, Massachusetts, Cape Cod. This dune shack is the essence of simple, rustic living. A perfect spot nestled in the dunes for that beach retreat or artist sabbatical. A great addition to your collection of beach house decor. "Nauset Light Infrared" fine art photography and art prints by Luke Moore. I pulled out my infrared camera to capture Nauset Beach Light on a mostly cloudy day in March. I wanted to express some character and begin to tell a story through this Nauset Lighthouse photograph. Infrared photography lends itself very well to creating a surreal, storytelling environment. I can't help but wonder how many shipwrecks and tragedies this lighthouse witnessed and/or helped to prevent.

Completed in 1838, Nauset Beach Lighthouse Station (The Three Sisters) was the first lighthouse station for Eastham, Massachusetts in Cape Cod. The Three Sisters consisted of three 15-foot brick towers each with a light on top. In 1892, these three towers were replaced with wooden towers and moved back from the eroding coastline. In 1911, more erosion caused one of the towers to be moved back again and two to be sold at auction. In 1923, the wooden lighthouse was retired and a new lighthouse was commissioned. The present day lighthouse is one of the towers from Chatham Light in Chatham, MA and was moved to Eastham in 1923. The Nauset Lighthouse has since been moved back several times due to dune erosion. For more historical information please visit the Nauset Light Preservation Society website.
A vintage style, black and white, seascape photograph of Nauset Beach Light in Eastham, Massachusetts, Cape Cod. In this lighthouse print, Nauset Lighthouse is framed by a Cape Cod National Seashore sign displaying hashtags. The lighthouse is brought to life with some selective color in this monochrome image. I waited for the red beacon to flash and I took the photo. To the left of the lighthouse you can see the historical lightkeeper's home, and to the right you can also see the little, white, oil house. Mostly cloudy, seascape photograph of the Lobster Point Lighthouse on the Marginal Way in Ogunquit, Maine, ME. During a spring morning, the sun peeks through just a little bit to illuminate the sky and the white, frothy water. The Margin is a walkway that spans a scenic portion of Maine's coast and the Atlantic Ocean. The Marginal way was started in 1925 with a donation of land made by Josiah Chase. The walkway has been preserved and managed by Ogunquit’s Marginal Way Committee with help from a non-profit called the Marginal Way Preservation Fund.

I felt like breaking all the composition rules with this Marginal Way bench photograph in Ogunquit, Maine. I love how the bench and the cloud patterns support the dynamic, diagonal horizon.
