A bright red radial engine on a vintage World War II medium bomber. This antique aircraft happens to be a North American B-25 Mitchell Bomber, one of the most versatile military planes of its time.

A bright red engine and propeller on a vintage World War ll bomber plane. This radial engine belongs to an old North America B-25 Mitchell aircraft. An abstract feel with a blue sky story to tell. This vintage aircraft was instrumental in WWll and during the four decades that followed. The Sky's the Limit - propeller plane print by Luke Moore.

Something so innately cool about a myriad of bolts, hoses, pieces, and bunch of metal.  Especially putting all those things together and getting it to leave the ground and fly.

I haven't been to many airshows.  However, during the fall I was able to attend The Collins Foundation airshow held at the Worcester Regional Airport (ORH) in Worcester, Massachusetts.  They had some really neat World War II planes on display with all the unique artwork and decorations that make these planes so special.

One of my favorites was the North America B-25 Mitchell airplane.  The propellers looked so intense and industrial.  I was able to see this plane take off which was even better.  Above are two versions of a photograph that I really enjoyed creating.

I can only imagine the hell that soldiers (and planes) went through.  That is quite a sacrifice... and for that I say Thank You.  Thanks for reading and taking a look!

Cape Neddick Light Holiday Spirit

I have to be honest... I really wanted snow on the ground for some of my Nubble Lighthouse photographs.  Sometime with photography (and life) you just have to use what is available and make it shine.   To me the holidays happen with or without snow.  Christmas happens regardless of any snow on the ground.  Living in Massachusetts my whole life, I've come to the realization that snow is not always that helpful or interesting.  Most of the time it derails things that are scheduled and causes other issues.  It can be a lot of extra work too, clearing it on your property, driving in it, etc.

Well back to Cape Neddick Light in York, Maine... The blue sky, flowing water, and details in the slabs of rock were beautiful.  Sure, snow would have changed the scene for better or worse... but it sure would have been hard to scale and navigate the coastal rocks and slabs.  Before I had a chance to know what was happening I would have been slipping into the water, not helpful at all :(

You have to take what you can get and appreciate it; enjoy the beauty in front of you.  A moment of silence and contemplation is something that is very rare in this world.  The same goes for photography.  You never get a second chance for that same scene.  You have to capture it in that moment before it disappears forever.

Happy Holidays to all.  Merry Christmas.  Happy New Year!  Hope it is a good one :)

Nubble Lighthouse Holiday Lights & Christmas Lights

A lovely afternoon on a warm December day at the Nubble Lighthouse in York, Maine, New England. The sun is setting and the holiday Christmas lights are shining brightly. The red beacon of Cape Neddick Light flashes out towards the Atlantic Ocean and towards the mainland.
Nubble Lighthouse (A.K.A. The Nubble or Cape Neddick Light) with its holiday and Christmas decorations =.
The Nubble is one of those special places that I never get tired of visiting.  I've been trying for several years to see the Christmas light display there.  I don't really have any interest in visiting the lighthouse during their lighting ceremony.  I'd rather go at any given time when the weather is decent and when less people are visiting there.

This year I was able to head up to York, Maine for part of a Saturday in December.  It was a warmer winter day, which was very helpful.  The Nubble Lighthouse looked stunning once the lights were lit.  In fact it looked beautiful in the afternoon sun even before the holiday lights switched on.

Stay tuned for more Nubble Light images :)  Happy Holidays and / or Merry Christmas, etc. etc. haha
