There is something so fascinating about these large abandoned mental hospital buildings. A while back I came across the website: http://www.kirkbridebuildings.com/ . A really cool history of the architecture associated with these institutions. Some nice photographs on Kirkbride site as well.
I have had the good fortune of visiting a few of these places and they always leave me wanting to know more and visit other historic mental hospitals and insane asylums. There were also many interesting TB hospitals as well.
Abandoned buildings and houses are one of my favorite things to photograph. Usually so much decay and abandonment. The air is always so heavy with emotion too. So many moods and so many lost memories.
