Over the years, I have always enjoyed visiting and photographing lighthouses.  There are so many that I haven't seen yet, but hope to visit in the future.  There is always something so primitive yet majestic about lighthouses.  Simple structures made to stand the test of time.  Structures with one purpose... to save lives.   Lighthouses can be so unique with very intricate and ornate architecture.    In a way, they remind me of the old mental hospitals, each having a specific architectural style... similar to the Kirkbride buildings from the 19th century.

For the photos above, I pulled out my infrared camera.  Infrared photography dovetails perfectly with the uniqueness of each lighthouse.  Infrared can convey a ghostly, magical, otherworldly, or surreal look... which in my opinion can create the perfect artistic lighthouse atmosphere.

Most of the lighthouses that I photograph are located in New England. Places like Maine, Cape Cod, and Rhode Island.  On rare occasion , I have the opportunity to visit a place like Bermuda or the Caribbean and that is a real treat.  So please stay tuned, I'm looking forward to having more lighthouse adventures in the future.
